Transcendental form of Worship
Srila Prabhupada instituted in ISKCON the most exquisite standards of Deity Worship and his desire was for these standards to be maintained.
Our temple here in Baltimore is presided by the beautiful deities of Sri Sri Nitai Gaur Sundar, who were installed since inception of ISKCON Baltimore. Later Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva & sister Subhadraji joined the Baltimore temple family to bless their devotees. To complete the family, Sri Sri Radha Madhava were installed (murti-sthapana) in a grand manner during a 3-day festival between April 28-30, 2017. They all are worshiped with great love and devotion on a daily basis, with rigorous offerings of upacaras, bhogas, aratis, and more.
In a single day, several devotees are actively involved with the worship. This includes pujaris, cooks, a number of assistants, purchasers, bakers, cleaners and garland makers.
The garlands, bhoga (food) offerings, and deity outfits are exceptionally beautiful. The devotees puts special emphasis on the seva puja, the actual worship going on behind the altar doors, like abhisheka, arati, etc. The cleanliness of the altar and deity rooms is very important as is the spiritual life of the devotees who serve the Lord. The result of this incredibly coordinated devotional effort is a transcendentally surreal Darshan that can be experienced by anyone who comes before the deities.
